Sheikh Saleh Al-Luhaydan
‏The point of having the Imam elevated is so he can allow all of the attendees to hear ‏since the people (attending) on the Eid days are many. ‏So if he were to stand on the ground, they cannot see him ‏and, therefore, his voice may not reach them. ‏Thus this is a way to make the sounds amplified. As for the Prophet ﷺ, it was not known that a Minbar (pulpit) was set for him in the desert to give the Khutbah (sermon) on Eid. Rather he ﷺ would only stand on the ground. The Minbar (pulpit) was only setup for him inside the mosque. ‏Therefore, it is not Sunnah for the person to request a Minbar (pulpit) to lead the people in Eid prayer on it. ‏However, if there are a lot of people and it is difficult to make the voice reach them if he is not elevated, ‏then that should be done since this is a way to amplify the Imam’s Khutbah (sermon), reminders, and advices. ‏And Allah knows best.
