Question

The person who claims that it is permissible to ask for forgiveness from the Prophet, peace be upon him, after his death, and says: It is okay to ask him for forgiveness from Allah for you. What is the ruling on such a statement?

This is an innovated speech (i.e., innovation within the religion) and it is not permissible. A dead person can not be asked of anything from him, not from the Prophet or anyone else. The Prophet is not asked for anything. The Companions of the prophet, even with their love for goodness and following (the way of the prophet). They didn’t come to the grave of the Prophet ﷺ asking him to ask Allah for forgiveness for them. None of the righteous predecessors did this. So how can we say: This is permissible?!
