Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen
If a person makes a mistake in speech, even if it’s a statement of Kufr (disbelief), he unintentionally said it, then he is not blamed for it. So this man, said a statement of Kufr. Because a person saying to his Rabb (Lord): You are my servant and I am your Rabb! This (statement) is Kufr without a doubt. However, when it was said unintentionally; because of extreme happiness he made a mistake, he didn’t know how to speak. Therefore, he is not held accountable for it. So if a person says a statement of Kufr by mistake, then he is not held accountable for it, likewise other words. If he insults someone by mistake and without intending it, or divorces his wife by mistake without intending it. Or he mistakenly frees a servant without intending it, then there is nothing on him. Because he didn’t intend, so it is like an unintentional oath. And Allah the Exalted has said: (لا يؤاخذكم الله باللغو في أيمانكم ولكن يؤاخذكمبما كسبت قلوبكم) “Allah will not call you to account for that which is unintentional in your oaths, but He will call you to account for that which your hearts have earned.” [Al-Baqarah:225]
