Ruling of Fasting During Travel

Accordingly is the saying of the Prophet ﷺ, when he was travelling, he saw people shading their companion, as if he had fainted because of his fasting, and it was a hot day. He ﷺ said: "Those are the disobedients", meaning those who fast while travelling and expose themselves to such hardship. So, it is disobedience to the Prophet ﷺ. If the fasting of the traveller doesn't expose him to any of this hardship, then the matter is as I have mentioned before; if he wishes, he fasts and if he wishes, he breaks his fast.
