Sheikh Ibn Al-Uthaymeen
It is permissible for a person to give his son from zakat, on the condition that there is no forfeiture of a wajib. This means, for example, if a person has zakat and he wants to give it to his son in order that he wouldn't ask him for expenses, then this is not sufficient. Because he wanted to give him zakat to waive an obligation of (financially) supporting him. However, if he gave it to him so that he could pay off a debt, like a son having an accident and his father gives him from the zakat to pay this fine, there is nothing wrong with that. This would be ground to give from zakat because his son is the closest person to him (in kin), and now he did not intend this to waive an obligation upon him. If this was his intention, then zakat is permissible for him.
