What is the ruling on Udhiyyah?

Udhiyyah is a sunnah, The Mustafā ( the Prophet ) ﷺ did it. He ﷺ used to sacrifice two white sheep every year. He would sacrifice one of them on behalf of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad and the second one on behalf of the people of tawhīd from his ummah ﷺ. This used to be his custom every year, he would sacrifice two slaughter animals i.e., two white sheep. It is a recommended sunnah for those who are able to do it. A man sacrifices one (sheep) on behalf of himself and his family i.e., on behalf of himself, his wife, parents, and the like, this means, on behalf of himself and his family even if they are many. It is not obligatory, Rather it is a recommended sunnah for those who are able to do it, only one on behalf of himself and his family. Also, it is okay If he sacrifices more than one.
