The Best of Charity is Zakah

As the Prophet ﷺ said (the meaning of which): "Charity extinguishes sins like how water extinguishes fire." And the best of charity is Zakah, for a dirham that you give in Zakah is better than a dirham that you give voluntarily. That's because Allah ta'ala said in a Hadeeth Qudsi (the meaning of which): "And there is nothing more beloved to Me from what My abd (worshipper) seeks nearness to Me by than what I made obligatory upon him." (Praying) a raka'ah of obligatory prayer is better than a raka'ah of voluntary prayer. Therefore, the obligatory acts of worship are better than voluntary acts.
