Defending One’s Homeland

The people of ilm (Islamic knowledge) said: It is obligatory for Muslims to perform jihad once a year, even just once. They fight the enemies of Allah; they fight them so that the Word of Allah is supreme. Not to defend the homeland because it is their homeland. Because defending the homeland, just because it is a homeland, can come from the believer and the disbeliever. Even the disbelievers defend their homelands, but the Muslim defends the religion of Allah, so he defends his homeland for this reason.
