Moderator: What is the position of a Muslim in general, whether he is a scholar, student of Ilm (Islamic Knowledge), or others, towards the callers of desegregation between genders and mimicking western cultures? Sheikh: His position is as what came in the Hadith: “Whosoever of you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand (if he has authority); and if he is not able to do so, then (let him change it) with his tongue (speak out); and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart — and that is the weakest of faith” [Muslim]. So, it is necessary for him to denounce evil, even with just his heart. However, the one who does not denounce evil with his hand, tongue, or heart, is not a believer. That’s why (Our Prophet) ﷺ said “and beyond that there is no faith even to the extent of a mustard seed” [Muslim]. So, he denounces according to his ability. If he is able to prevent them, he has authority, then he prevents them, such as rulers. And if he is not able to prevent them (physically), he denounces it (evil) with spoken words, proclamation, writing, and responding to them. If he is not able, then he denounces the evil and detests what they say.
