Sheikh Saleh Al-Luhaydan
I have said before on this chair that Allah says: (أَوَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ الْقُرَىٰ أَن يَأْتِيَهُم بَأْسُنَا ضُحًى وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَ) (meaning) "Or, did the people of the towns then feel secure against the coming of Our punishment in the forenoon while they were playing.” [Al-A'raf:98] People are praised for worshipping Allah, fearing Him, being serious and striving for what rectifies the ummah (Muslim nation) and raises its worth. There is no harm in listening to poetry politely, on the condition that it doesn’t distract people from worshipping of Allah. We ask Allah to reform the Muslims in every place, guide us to the right path, preserves the security of our Deen (religion) and our worldly life in our country the Kingdom (Saudi Arabia), and that Allah saves us from the visible and invisible fitnahs (trials/tribulations).
