Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen
Jābir arrived at Madinah and the Prophet ﷺ had arrived before him. Then, he came to the Prophet ﷺ and he ﷺ commanded him to enter the masjid and pray two rakaʿahs.
So, this - I mean, praying two rakaʿahs being the first thing (you do) upon arriving in your country - is from the sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ that is both from his speech and his action.
I don't think anyone from people except a few, perform this sunnah.
However, it's due to people's ignorance of this (sunnah), otherwise it is surely something that's easy, All praise is to Allāh;
Whether you pray in the masjid that you (regularly) pray in that's near your house, or you prayed in the farthest masjid in the country that you are in.
If, for example, you arrived (from travel) in your land, and prayed in the first masjid in your path in the same land, the sunnah has been fulfilled.
