Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan
Du’a using the words: Ya Fard (the Only One), Ya Samad (the Self-Sufficient Master, whom all creatures need).
He is asking: Is it correct?
Yes, this is taken from Surah Al-Ikhlas.
{Say (O Muhammad) He is Allah, (the) One. Allah-us-Samad [Allah the Self-Sufficient Master, whom all creatures need, (He neither eats nor drinks)].} [Al-Ikhlas:1-2]
The meaning of "Ahad" (the One) is Al-Fard (the Only One) who has no partner, no one is equivalent or like Him. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Allah is Witr” and the meaning of Witr is Al-Fard (the Only One)." Allah is Witr and loves what is Witr (single, odd).
