The Prophet ﷺ singled him (Abu Bakr) out with a dua (supplication.) By Allah, O Abu Bakr, don’t neglect (to say) at the end of every prayer, for I love you… I love you O Abu Bakr, and between you and me, hold on to it and say it in every salah (prayer). What is it? He ﷺ said, “Say, ‘O Allah, I have greatly wronged myself.’” Abu Bakr greatly wronged himself?! (What about us then) What do we say? (What about us) What do we say then—hah?! "اللّٰهُمَّ إِنٍّي ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِي ظُلْمًا كَثِيرًا وَلَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ َفَاغْفِرْ لِي مَغْفِرَةً مِنْ عِنْدِكَ وَارْحَمْنِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ " "O Allah, I have greatly wronged myself, and no one forgives sins but You. So, grant me forgiveness and have mercy on me. Surely, you are Forgiving, Merciful." Abu Bakr Assiddiq never neglected saying it; by Allah he never did. And our sheikhs say that since they learned it, they have never neglected saying it either. So, don’t neglect it, O servant of Allah.
