Explanation of the Hadīth "Trim the Mustache and Let the Beard Grow"

Sheikh: Shaving the beard? Questioner: Yes. Sheikh: No doubt, shaving the beard is from major sins, and it is not only prohibited. That's because it includes opposing many Nusus (texts from the Qur'an and sunnah). The first of them is the saying of the Prophet ﷺ, "Trim the mustache and let the beard grow and oppose the Jews and the Christians." And it is not permissible to oppose the command given by the Prophet ﷺ because of the saying of Allah ﷻ: {And let those who oppose the Messenger's commandment (among the sects) beware, lest some Fitna befall them or a painful torment be inflicted on them.} [An-Nur: 63]
