Is it possible for an old person to seek knowledge?

Question: There are those who sought knowledge at old age and they became scholars such as Imam Ibn Hazm and Al-Izz bin Abdilsalam, whose ages were over forty years old. He says: “So what is your advice regarding this, and does the old one understand as the young one understands?” Answer: Whoever makes his intention sincerely for Allah and seeks knowledge with a sincere intention and devotion, Allah will grant him success even if he is old, however this is rare for the old to be like the young. The young one is more fixed in knowledge and concentrates on knowledge more than the old one. We don’t say that the old one can’t learn, no he can learn and become a scholar, but this is rare.
