Whosoever Intends an Evil Deed but Becomes Unable to Do it

If a person intended to commit an evil deed, and did the action which leads to it, but became unable to do it, then the sin of the doer will be written against him. As preceded, regarding the two Muslims who confronted each other with their swords. If two Muslims confront each other with their swords, then the killer and the one killed are both in the Hellfire. They asked: O Messenger of Allah, this is the killer, but what about the one killed? He said: because he was eager to kill his companion.
