Charity to Your Relatives is Better

One should not think that if he leaves behind wealth and was inherited by force, that he will not be rewarded for it. No, rather he will be rewarded. The prophet ﷺ said: “Indeed, if you leave your heirs rich is better than to leave them poor and begging from people.” Meaning begging people. That’s because if you leave money for the heirs, they will benefit from it. Also, they are (your) kin. And if you give it as a Sadaqah (charity), non-relatives will benefit from it. Sadaqah (charity) to relatives is better than giving it to non-relatives because giving it to a relative is sadaqah and silah (maintaining the ties of kinship).
