And from this subject comes the detailed explanation between the Sunnah acts of 'Ibadah (worship) and customary Sunnah acts. The sunnah acts of 'Ibadah are those which the Prophet ﷺ did with the intent of 'Ibadah (worship). So, the Muslim follows this Sunnah by doing it with the intention of 'Ibadah. The customary acts of Sunnah are those by which he ﷺ did not intend 'Ibadah, rather he (the Prophet) ﷺ did it regularly or customarily, So, everything from these two matters is permissible, (but) with a big difference, that is, if one intends by the Sunnah acts of worship, getting nearer to Allah, then he is rewarded (for it), as for the customary Sunnah acts, it is not permissible to draw near to Allah (through them), this is because he's opposing the Prophet ﷺ in this manner, not through his apparent action, rather through his intention.
