Be diligent in Earning Hasanat Through the Easiest of Ways

In an authentic hadith reported by Imam Ahmad and others, the Prophet ﷺ was in a gathering, whereupon a person entered, Then, he said, "Al-Salamu alaykum,"so, He ﷺ said, "Ten." Then, a second person entered and said, "Al-Salamu alaykum wa rahmatu Allah." He ﷺ said, "Twenty." Then, a third one entered and said, "Al-Salamu alaykum wa rahmatu Allahi wabarakatuh." He ﷺ said, "Thirty." Some of the people present there noticed it and said, "O Allah's Messenger! so-and-so entered, you said ten, when so-and-so entered, you said twenty, and when so-and-so entered, you said thirty." He ﷺ said, “Yes. The first one said ‘Peace be upon you’ so, ten hasanat (good deeds) were written for him. The second one added to what he said, (saying) ‘Mercy of Allah’ so, the hasanat were increased for him. Therefore, I said ‘Twenty.’ And the third person added to both of them (saying) ‘Blessings of Allah’ hence, ten more hasanat were added.” So, altogether, it was Thirty. Therefore, I want you all to be diligent in earning hasanat through the easiest of ways, through the easiest of ways.
