Meaning of the Call of Jahiliyyah

And in the authentic narration, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever disunites from the Jama’ah the length of a hand span and dies upon that, then it’s a death of Jahiliyyah.” Also, in the authentic narration, the Prophet ﷺ said, "Do you make the proclamation of the times of Jahiliyyah while I am amongst you?” Abu Al-‘Abbas said, "(It is) everything that is not a part of the da'wah [call/way] of Islam and the Qur’an, either (by referring to) lineage, country, nationality, madhab, or a way, it is from the call/tribal bragging of Jahiliyyah." Abu Al-‘Abbas meaning Sheikh Al-Islam ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him. What is meant is that proclamation with other than Islam, (by saying) O people of Makkah, O people of Ta’if, and O people of Najd! These are from the proclamations of Jahiliyyah. He should say, O believers, O brothers, O Helpers (in the Cause) of Allah, O worshippers of Allah, in this manner.
